Execution of criminals and dissidents has been used by nearly almost all societies since the beginning of civilization on Earth. Although having no developed system of prison, until the 19th century but still criminals got sentenced. Crime is actually a crime, not be acceptable by any society whether ancient or modern, even in the name of humanity many society together help each other to overcome such inhuman crimes. The earliest and the most famous examples were Code of Hammurabi, The Torah, Ancient Greece ‘s Athenian legal system, The Romans, Tang Dynasty etc., these were used death penalty for a wide range of offences.   Emergence of modern nation states:
With the emergence of modern nation states, few centuries ago, the concept of natural and legal rights identified its position. Jeremy Bentham (founder of utilitarianism), Karl Marx and Charles dickens justifies the punishment as a form of deterrence as opposed to retribution. As a means of maintaining military discipline, modern military organizations employed capital punishment.
Different religion have different views regarding capital death, depends on their religious faiths. For example among Christianity, Catholicism opposes capital punishment in all cases, whereas Islam and Buddhism both support capital punishment. In Islam, capital punishment is condoned. Although the Quran prescribes the death penalty for several hadd (FIXED) crimes, including robbery, adultery, and apostasy of Islam, although murder is not among them. Instead murder is treated as civil crime, and having a law of Qisas(retaliation) to treat with.
In the Hebrew Bible, Exodus 21:12 states that “whoever strikes a man so that he dies shall be put to death”.
Is Capital Punishment justified?
The question is “is Capital Punishment justified? Simply the forward-looking purpose is to protect the innocent from harm. So it means the remedy to the capital punishment ought to be abolished now.
Scientists believe that although many criminals surely meet their death penalty. But still no huge effect has been seen from the last ten years. Crime rates significantly shows no difference. Many criminologists believe that death punishment is not a guarantee to lesser the criminal rate, rather then we should focus on life imprison in order to save the lives. They consider the death punishment as a harsh punishment. Because needlessly it takes limited resources away from policies that have been proven to reduce crime. Many others believe that capital punishment is beneficial to society because it may deter violent crime.
Globally death penalty effectiveness figures in 2018 and 2019:
Almost 690 executions are recorded in 20 countries, which is a noticeable decrease of 31% compared to 2017(almost 993) and these penalties are mostly took place in China, Iran, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. So it means majority of the world’s states have abolished the death penalty in law for all crimes.
In 2019, the executive death offenders in the United States are almost 22 that shows 70% of the world states have abolished capital punishment in law or practice. Still fourteen countries retained and legalized the right to executive criminals for their crimes. Their names are, Bangladesh, china, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, India, japan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, South Korea, Taiwan,
Sri Lanka, the United States.

Personal opinion:
In my point of views such criminals must meet to the end in the form of death punishment because they violates human’s fundamental right-the right of life. How on their cruel and inhuman act is being forgivable.
